Education facility safety agency marks 78 years and sets 2027 management plan
The Korea Educational Facility Safety Agency held its 78th anniversary event in Seoul on Aug. 6, where chairman Heo Sung-woo announced management policies for 2027 and a former deputy prime minister for education gave a special lecture.
The Korea Educational Facility Safety Agency held its 78th anniversary ceremony on the afternoon of Aug. 6, 2026 in the large conference room of the Baekbeom Kim Koo Memorial Hall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, with about 150 executives and staff attending, according to a press release from the agency.
Before the ceremony, participants took part in a history education program on patriotic martyrs and toured the memorial’s exhibition hall. Yoo Eun-hae, former social affairs deputy prime minister and minister of education, delivered a special lecture on the importance of educational facility safety and the role of the organization’s members.
The program included a commemorative address by chairman Heo Sung-woo and a response from labor union chairman Kim Sung-yoo, which the agency described as an occasion for labor-management harmony, followed by an awards ceremony recognizing outstanding employees. Heo also presented the agency’s management policies for 2027, including the construction of AI- and digital-based safety management and data-driven risk prediction systems.
The agency is a statutory body established under the Act on the Safety and Maintenance of Educational Facilities and operates under the Ministry of Education, carrying out safety management across the full life cycle of educational facilities, disaster prevention and response, mutual aid programs, and safety inspections and training, the release said.
