Chongshin University signs agreement to open Korean language center in Uganda

Chongshin University signed a memorandum of understanding on educational, academic and mission cooperation with Reformed Theological College of Uganda on Aug. 6, 2026, at Ju Ki-cheol Memorial Hall on its Sadang campus in Seoul, according to a press release from the university.

The agreement calls for the establishment and operation of a Korean language education center on the RTC campus in Kampala in cooperation with Chongshin. Under the division of roles described in the release, RTC will provide classrooms, facilities and equipment, student recruitment and promotion, and administrative support, while Chongshin will supply the Korean language curriculum and teaching materials, review qualifications for Korean language teachers, set completion standards and support the issuance of certificates.

RTC will also identify outstanding students and recommend them to Chongshin, the university said. The two sides are discussing scholarship support for Ugandan students entering the Korean language training course at Chongshin’s International Education Institute and undergraduate programs, along with dormitory accommodation, academic and living support, and links to faith-based and social networks.

The agreement additionally covers exchanges of faculty and researchers, joint research, academic seminars and special lectures. Attending the signing were Chongshin President Park Sung-kyu, planning and innovation head Hwang Sun-woo, future knowledge education director Cho Ki-hyun, International Education Institute director Kim Dong-myung, and RTC professor Kim Jong-il.

Chongshin said the partnership is part of a plan to expand international educational and academic exchange in Africa and strengthen its international education cooperation network.
