Cheonan launches student planning team for November neighborhood festival
Cheonan's urban regeneration support center, a Bongmyeong village cooperative and Baekseok University began training a student team on Aug. 5 to plan and run a village festival set for November.
The Cheonan Urban Regeneration Support Center, the Bongmyeong Village Management Social Cooperative and Baekseok University’s anchor project group have begun operating a university student festival planning team, with the first training session held on Aug. 5, 2026, according to a press release from the center.
Baekseok University students will take part in the entire process from planning through operation of the festival, which is scheduled for November in the Bongmyeong district of Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do. The center said the aim is to build a cooperative model in which residents and university students create a village festival together.
The first session covered the Bongmyeong district urban regeneration project and the role of the cooperative, and included a tour of urban regeneration hub facilities in the district along with discussion of the festival’s direction. Practical training in festival planning and facilitation sessions to develop the concept and content will follow in stages, the center said.
Center head Oh Hyung-seok expressed an intention to continue cooperation with local universities. The center’s related projects include urban regeneration New Deal projects in the Cheonan Station area and the Namsan and Bongmyeong districts, as well as a specialized regeneration project in the Oryong district. Details of the November festival will be announced later, according to the release.
